A CFM56-7B jet engine made for a mobile VR project based on the Quest 3 headset, it's a surprisingly able piece of hardware, this and much more ran winderfully on it over 72fps constantly!
I made this as part of a wider team endeavour to recreate a full Boeing 737NG plane with a strong focus on the CFM engine itself, I made this outer cowling and inner fan cowling for the other artists to fit the multitude of engine parts to.
It consists of several meshes to disable when not visible or used and about 6 texture sets for all the parts, about 3 for the external cowling, rear exhaust and fan blades, floaters were used for the warning information on the cowling.
Modelled in 3DS Max, Unwrapped in Rizom UV, Baked and Textured in Substance 3D Painter, Renders in Marmoset Toolbag but was also in use inside Unity where we used a more compact 2 texture set up on the shaders to reduce texture calls.
Originally the doors were never meant to open so I later had to re work the model to allow for the door panels to open along with the internals of each door and the fan cowling within.
This was a great piece and I really enjoyed working on it, even with the little official information we had.
